Case Study by Wayne 2005.12.23 - Vancouver, CANADA
The challenge of this custom built project was the "BREMBO Mini
Caliper" in disc brake system. It would have been be much easier
if this is a YAMAHA 50cc scooter with stock disc brake at front. However,
it's a 2002 HONDA JAZZ with CBS drum brakes. It's not too difficult
to get a BREMBO Mini Caliper with 2 corresponding pistons, but it's
difficult to find a disc which can endure the heat created from dual
friction. Most disc brake calipers on 50cc scooters are only single
piston.
We contacted the RPM Motorsports Company in Taiwan & used their
220mm disc with caliper seat. There were some size differences between
the NCY Dio ZX Front Forks and the RPM Caliper Seat, so we had to
grind both of them to fit each other. The KYMCO Brake Fluid Cylinder
also needed some love: Grinding... by hand, the entire process took
more than 8 hrs.
The Orange / Gray metallic color paints were done by a high-end body
shop that paints for PORSCHE & BMW. Both front & rear wheels
are aftermarket parts for the Live Dio ZX. We always recommend BRIDGESTONE
BT39SS Racing Tires for people who love speed! The finishing touch
was the seat reapholstery by luimotoseats.com
in Vancouver. Nice work!
